Lane Preference LWC
From the App Launcher, search for Lane Preferences. If a Lane Preferences navigation tab was created during setup, click the tab. Select New.
Select the Customer or Carrier Transportation Profile this Lane Preference record will apply to.
When creating new Lane Preference records, the Effective Date field is automatically set to today’s date. To set an effective date other than today’s date, manually set that date.
Lane Preference records without an Expiration Date field are always active. To set an expiration date, manually set that date. If the Lane Preference Default Expiration field was set up in TMS Admin → Configuration, the Expiration Date field is automatically set to today’s date plus the default expiration value.
The Refresh Exp (Expiration Date) link sets the Expiration Date field to today’s date plus the number of days from the value set in the Lane Preference Default Expiration field.
Lane
The Lane section allows for searching or creating Lanes for the Lane Preference record. Make selections on the Origin and Destination Type picklists to narrow Lane lookups by selecting a specific type.
Search for existing Lane records already available in the TMS or create Lane records with the New Lane button.
Preferred Carrier Services
The Preferred Carrier Service section associates Carrier Services with the selected Lane.
Once the Lane is selected, search for a preferred Carrier Service in the search field. The Carrier Service field remains locked until the Transportation Profile field is populated.
Note: Only enabled Carrier Services can be selected.
Disabled Carrier Services or Vendor-type Carrier Services are excluded from the Carrier Service search results.
If desired, enter additional information for the following fields:
Search for and select a preferred Equipment Type.
Enter a Target Rate for the Lane.
For multi-currency orgs, select a Currency.
Click the Add Preference button to add the Carrier Service to the record.
When all Carrier Services have been added to the Lane Preference, click Save.
Note: The Equipment Type, Target Rate, and Currency fields are not used for matching Lane Preferences. They are informational fields for broker reference.
Components using Lane Preferences
Check the Enable Lane Preferences field on TMS Admin → Configuration to display the Lane Preferences feature in the Carrier Match, Freight Quote Assistant, and Carrier Quote List components.
Truck Posting
Create Lane Preference records from Truck Postings. Select a Truck Posting record, then click the Create Lane Preference button in the banner.
Note: The Create Lane Preference button is available on the Truck Posting page even if the Lane Preferences feature is not enabled in TMS Admin. The Lane Preference records can be created, but they do not impact functionality across the TMS.
The button opens the Lane Preference LWC to create the record. Create a Lane or add an existing one. The Preferred Carrier Services section automatically includes the Carrier Service and Equipment Type when they exist on the Truck Posting record. Add or edit other fields as necessary. Click Save when complete.
You can also create Truck Postings from the Lane Preferences record.
Click the Create Truck Posting(s) button from the banner of the Lane Preference record page.
Note: The Create Truck Posting(s) button is available on the Lane Preference page even if the Lane Preferences feature is not enabled in TMS Admin. The Truck Posting records can be created, but they do not impact functionality across the TMS.

Include the required Initial Quantity field.
When completed, click the Create Posting(s) button.
Freight Quote Assistant
When creating Loads, customer Lane Preferences appear on the Carrier Quote Builder portion of the Freight Quote Assistant. A blue Preferred Lane pill indicates the quoted Carrier Services match the Customer's Lane Preference.
Carrier Quote List
A star icon in the Carrier Quote List LWC indicates that the Carrier Quote generated matches a Lane Preference record. The icon appears when a Carrier Service on the Carrier Quote matches to a Lane Preference record.
Click the icon to view the Carrier Quote record.
Carrier Match
Use carrier Lane Preferences to identify preferred Carrier Services from the Carrier Match LWC.
Click the arrow to expand and show the details of any matching Preferred Carrier Services for the Load.
The Preferred Carrier Services section displays any Carrier Services that match on the Lane and Date of the Load.
Lane Preferences are displayed when the Lane of the Load matches any carrier Lane Preference records. If multiple matches are generated for a Transportation Profile, only the record with the most specific Lane is displayed in the section. That is, the Lane with the lowest Match Priority out of all the matches is displayed. For example, if State-to-State and City/State-to-City/State Lanes match for a Transportation Profile, only the Preferred Carrier Service City/State-to-City/State Lane is displayed.
Any Lane Preference records that are not yet effective or have expired do not appear in the Preferred Carrier Services section.
All Lane Preferences are displayed in the Preferred Carrier Services section regardless of whether the Equipment Type matches the Load. Filters on the Carrier Match LWC allow users not to display Carrier Services of other Equipment Types.
The following effects occur in the Carrier Match LWC:
If the Capacity Filter is on, all customer and carrier Lane Preferences that match the Customer on the Load are displayed. The filter controls when customer Lane Preferences are displayed.
If Capacity Filter is off, only matches on the Customer, Lane, and Date are displayed.
If there is no Customer on the Load, no customer Lane Preferences are displayed.
View the following columns for any available Preferred Carrier Services:
Carrier Service
Request Status
Source (Customer or Carrier Lane Preference)
Contact
Phone
Select the Carrier Service from the list and choose the Get Quotes or Log Call buttons to contact the carrier. The Request Status field updates to Requested when a call is logged or a quote is requested via email.
Carrier Portal

Note: Truck Posting records are different from Lane Preferences. They are intended for one-time or recurring capacity.
Carriers can create Lane Preferences for themselves in the Carrier Portal. Add a new page to an existing Carrier Portal Site and add the Lane Preference Manager component to the new page. Publish the new page when complete. See the Carrier Portal setup and functionality for more information.
Caution: Create appropriate sharing rules when adding the Lane Preferences component to the Carrier Portal. Depending on Lane records it may be possible to expose Location-based Lanes to Carrier Portal users.
Select the New button to create new Lane Preferences or choose the Filter button to search for existing Lane Preferences.

Carrier Portal users can only create Lane Preferences for the Carrier Transportation Profile related to the Account on which the user is a Contact. The Transportation Profile field is populated automatically and is not editable.
Search for existing Lane records available in the TMS or create Lane records with the New Lane button.
When a Lane is selected, search for a Carrier Service in the search field. Carrier Service records cannot be created from the Lane Preferences Manager.

Note: Filtering by date in the Carrier Portal returns all Lane Preferences with the period greater than or equal to the Effective Date and less than the Expiration Date. If the date is blank, Lane Preferences without dates are always effective and return in searches/filtering.
Customer Portal
Customer Portal users can create Lane Preference records with the Lane Preferences Manager. These Lane Preferences represent the carrier that a given customer prefers for a specific Lane.
Caution: Create appropriate sharing rules when adding the Lane Preferences Manager component to the Customer Portal. Depending on Lane records it may be possible to expose large portions of a carrier network to Customer Portal users.
