Global Default Transportation Profile

The Global Default Transportation Profile is used for cascading logic when certain information in the Customer Transportation Profile is blank or not present. If the field is blank or there are no matching related records on the Customer Transportation Profile, then the logic also searches the same fields and related records in the Global Default Transportation Profile for a value or match.

TMS Admin Setting

The Global Default Transportation Profile is set with the Default Transportation Profile field in TMS Admin → Configuration under the Global Settings section.

The Default Transportation Profile field is a Transportation Profile lookup field and can be set to any Transportation Profile.

Record Type

The Global Default Transportation Profile can be of any Record Type. However, since many of the cascading logic comes from the Customer Transportation Profile, using the Shipper/Consignee record type is recommended.

The Record Type of a Global Default Transportation Profile is typically Shipper/Consignee, but the record type can be any other value.

Cascading Logic Fields and Records

If these fields are blank or there are no matching related records on the Customer Transportation Profile, then the logic cascades to the Global Default Transportation Profile:

*If either the Rating Source and Auto-Apply Accessorial Rating Source fields are set to Customer + Global Rates, then the Global Default Transportation Profile searches for matching rates along with the Customer Transportation Profile.
The Customer Rates Only value only searches for matching rates in the Customer Transportation Profile.

**The Customer Transportation Profile inherits any other Carrier Exclusion records from the Global Default Transportation Profile, even if it doesn’t show in the customer’s Carrier Exclusions related list.
