The Transportation Profile object extends the Salesforce concept of an Account to include additional information related to configuring, quoting, tendering, and tracking loads.
Typically, a Transportation Profile and an Account record have 1:1 relationships.
Note: A Transportation Profile record can be shared by multiple related Accounts. For example, a large customer with 10 Account (location) records in the TMS may all reference the same Transportation Profile record.
Transportation Profile Record Types
There are eight Transportation Profile record types:
Broker/3PL
Carrier (Air)
Carrier (Ground)
Carrier (Ocean)
Carrier (Rail)
Customs Port
Shipper/Consignee
Vendor
The Transportation Profile record page will display different fields and related lists depending on the Record Type value selected.
Change the Record Type field to another value that matches the related Account’s TMS Type if necessary.
TMS Type
Depending on the Account’s TMS Type multi-select picklist values chosen, the Transportation Profile should use the Record Type that best matches the Account’s TMS Type. Use the following table to determine the Transportation Profile Record Type by TMS Type.
For example, an Account with the Customer and Shipper/Consignee as the chosen TMS Type values should have a related Transportation Profile with the Record Type as Shipper/Consignee.
Note: The Broker/3PL record type doesn’t have an exact Account TMS Type it matches to. However, it can be used as the type for the Global Default Transportation Profile.

TMS Type for Sharing Note: The TMS Type for Sharing field on the Account object duplicates the TMS Type field value but is accessible as a criterion for Account Sharing Rules. It should not display on the Account record page.
Transportation Profile Auto-Creation
Transportation Profile records are automatically created and associated with an Account record whenever an Account is created or updated under the following circumstances:
There is no existing Transportation Profile populated on the Account record.
The chosen TMS Type field is populated with any value other than Customs Broker or Factoring Company.
Note: Custom TMS Type values do not create a Transportation Profile automatically.
The simplest and recommended way to auto-create Transportation Profiles is by manually creating an Account record from the New button on the Accounts list view and meeting the circumstances previously mentioned.
Customer Transportation Profile Auto-Creation
You can auto-create Customer Transportation Profiles by creating a Load and checking the Customer, Prospect, or Shipper/Consignee TMS Type values.
Another way to auto-create Customer Transportation Profiles is by creating a Load on the Customer Portal with a new Shipper/Consignee TMS Type for the account. This auto-creation method is available only if the customer’s portal is configured to support this security.
Carrier Transportation Profile Auto-Creation
The other way to auto-create Carrier Transportation Profiles is to create an Account when entering an online carrier application.
