Warning for Permission Sets: The TMS supports specific default objects and fields to ensure LWCs accurately render with the applicable information. Ensure that Read-only access is provided to the Account and Contact objects. Keep in mind that for login permission sets, the Invoice object and related fields are not packaged. Configure the Invoice object and related fields as applicable for business needs.
Change or create custom permissions for objects and fields to best fit business needs by cloning the permission set and navigating to Setup → Users → Permission Sets. Additionally, because the object and field permissions are provided for external access, take caution when editing object and field permissions to ensure sensitive data is not compromised.
Digital Experiences Sites, also known as Experience Cloud Sites, are platform sites created in Salesforce Setup. The TMS supports five (5) primary Digital Experiences Sites depending on business needs:
Digital Experiences Site Name | Digital Experiences Site Purpose | Required? |
|---|---|---|
API | Used to communicate with API partners. | Y |
Carrier Portal | Used for Carrier management. | N |
Carrier Application | Used for Carrier onboarding. | N |
Customer Portal | Used for customer management actions. | N |
Email Loop | Used to communicate with guest users to perform specific actions. | Y |
Additional Digital Experiences Sites can be created as well.
Digital Experiences Site Setup
Create a Digital Experiences Site using the following steps:
Navigate to Setup → Digital Experiences → All Sites.
Click the New button.
Once the Site configuration wizard renders, select the Build Your Own (Aura) template.
Note: The Build Your Own (Aura) template should be selected for the API and the Carrier Application sites.
For the Customer Portal, Carrier Portal, and Email Loop sites, select the Customer Service template.
Click Get Started.
Enter a Name for the Digital Experiences Site and include an optional URL handle.
Click the Create button.
Use Workspaces to configure settings and properties for the site such as managing assigned site permission sets, moderating discussions, and managing content.
Click the Builder link from Setup → Digital Experiences → All Sites, or click the Builder tab within Workspaces.
Within the Experience Builder, customize and edit permissions, settings, and Lightning Web Components (LWC).
Note: Ensure each site is activated for guest users to view and use the site. Additionally, test these sites thoroughly in a sandbox org first and again in the production org.
Permission Sets
All Digital Experiences Site users are assigned permission sets on the User record.
Note: Because the Email Loop supports guest user actions, Email Loop permission sets can’t be allocated to a User record.
Digital Experiences Site Name | User Type | Permission Set Assigned |
|---|---|---|
API | API Guest User | TMS API Community |
Carrier Portal | Carrier Portal user | TMS Carrier Community with Login |
Carrier Application | Carrier Guest | TMS Carrier Application Community |
Customer Portal | Customer Portal user | TMS Customer Community with Login |
API Digital Experiences Site
The API Digital Experiences Site is integral to the operation of API integrations in the TMS.
The API Digital Experiences Site works in the background, so Carriers and Customers don’t interact with the site. Because of this, there are no community permission sets assigned to the site.
The System Administrator profile primarily controls the workspace of the Digital Experiences Site, although other Profiles can be selected to configure this site.
Carrier Portal Digital Experiences Site
The Carrier Portal Digital Experiences Site is created for Carriers.
Creating a Carrier Portal Digital Experiences Site allows users to:
Create Lane Preferences
View and search for available Loads to tender in the Load Board
Post trucks
View Loads
In the Experience Builder, add the following Visualforce Pages (VFP) for the Carrier Portal:
CarrierTruckPosting
CarrierLoadBoard
CarrierQuoteSettlement
Note: The Carrier Portal field needs to be checked for a Load to be visible on the CarrierLoadBoard or CarrierTruckPosting pages.
Additionally, add the following Lightning Web Component (LWC) for the Carrier Portal:
Lane Preference Manager
The Carrier Portal Digital Experiences Site is assigned the TMS Carrier Community with Login permission set.
The System Administrator profile primarily controls the workspace of the Digital Experiences Site, although other Profiles can be selected to configure this site.
Carrier Application Digital Experiences Site
The Carrier Application Digital Experiences Site only hosts the Carrier Application LWC in its own site separate from the Carrier Portal. The Carrier Application LWC is for Carrier onboarding.
See the Carrier Application Setup article for more information on configuring the Carrier Application.
The Carrier Application Digital Experiences Site is assigned the TMS Carrier Application Community permission set.
The System Administrator profile primarily controls the workspace of the Digital Experiences Site, although other Profiles can be selected to configure this site.
Customer Portal Digital Experiences Site
The Customer Portal Digital Experiences Site has a similar format as the Carrier Portal site and hosts customer users.
The Customer Portal Digital Experiences Site allows Customer Contact(s) and Customer Guest users to:
Engage in the Load lifecycle via Load tracking
Create Lane Preferences
Create quotes
View pending Loads
Participate in the discussion community (if discussion posts and Chatter features are enabled)
Within the Experience Builder, add the following Lightning Web Components (LWC) for the Customer Portal:
Quote Wizard
Pending Loads
Lane Preferences
The Customer Portal Digital Experiences Site is assigned the TMS Customer Community with Login permission set.
The System Administrator Profile primarily controls the workspace of the Digital Experiences Site, although other Profiles can be selected to configure this site.
Email Loop Digital Experiences Site
The Email Loop Digital Experiences Site is very essential because it brings together many TMS features.
When sending a request to a Customer, Carrier, or Driver, the Email Loop site initiates the email request to the guest user to respond via clickable links that direct them to take additional actions in the Portal.
Note: Guest user pages should be created for the Email Loop. See the Email Loop Setup article for more information on creating and configuring the Email Loop guest pages.
The Email Loop site is the only site that hosts one (1) guest user, thus, the User record doesn’t need to be assigned an Email Loop permission set.
Additionally, the Email Loop Digital Experiences Site is assigned the following permission sets:
TMS Appointment Request Email Loop
TMS Carrier Community with Login
TMS Carrier Email Loop
TMS Customer Community with Login
TMS Customer Email Loop
TMS Fleet Email Loop
Within the Experience Builder, add the following Lightning Web Components (LWC) for the Email Loop:
Guest User Page Name | Associated LWC(s) |
|---|---|
appointmentguest | Appointment Request Response |
carrierguest |
|
customerguest |
|
fleetguest | Fleet Driver Confirmation |
The System Administrator profile primarily controls the workspace of the Digital Experiences Site, although other Profiles can be selected to configure this site.
