Overview
Fuel Surcharge Setup
Fuel surcharges can be automatically applied to Customer Quotes, Customer Invoices, Carrier Quotes, and Carrier Invoices. They can be applied via Rate Entries when setting up stored rates for customer and global transportation profiles.
Fuel Rate integration support is provided for the following.
Breakthrough Fuel (Breakthrough Fuel does not use the Fuel Index object.)
To create a Fuel Surcharge schedule, go to TMS Admin → Fuel Surcharges.
Select the Fuel Surcharge Source. Navigate to the Breakthrough Fuel information if using that integration for further setup.
If using the TMS as the Fuel Surcharge Source, select the Fuel Index the surcharge is based on. The Fuel Index Value field determines the value of the index is used in the calculation.

The fuel surcharge rate on the Customer and/or Carrier Quote is set according to the Load's Expected Ship Date. For Loads with an Expected Ship Date that occurs in the future (beyond the current week), the current fuel rate is used for the fuel surcharge rate.
The Current Week Start Day determines how a week is defined for purposes of selecting the “current” index. For example, a Current Week Start Day of Tuesday means that the index available next Monday is considered current for Tuesday through Monday. This value is typically Sunday or Monday.
Schedule the FuelIndexUpdateJob daily to enable automatic index and fuel surcharge refreshes.
